Lymington restaurateur Shah Malek scoops honours for Rivaaz at Asian Curry Awards and eatPIZZA at TripAdvisor

A LYMINGTON restaurateur is celebrating after winning two awards for both his venues – with one named Best Asian Restaurant on the South Coast for the fifth year running.
Shah Malek said he was “overwhelmed” after scooping the double honour during what have been “really hard times for the hospitality industry”.
He said: “This just validates everything my teams are doing. These awards belong to them as much as to me.”
His Indian eatery Rivaaz scooped the top accolade at the Asian Curry Awards this week at a ceremony at London’s Dorchester hotel.
“We are absolutely thrilled and overjoyed to have won this huge award again, making it a record-breaking five times in a row,” said Shah.
“None of this would have been possible without the continued support of all our lovely diners, and also the entire team at Rivaaz who have worked tirelessly to make this award possible.”
Shah, who opened Rivaaz in 2007 in St Thomas Street, was accompanied by his wife and three children.
It was the second award he has landed in just over a month. His second venue eatPIZZA, which he set up in Gosport Street just over 18 months ago, was awarded a Travellers Choice Award by online travel company TripAdvisor after ranking within the top 10% of hotels worldwide.
The accolade is reserved for restaurants which consistently receive glowing reviews.
